The Marketing and Communications Consultant works closely with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communication (DSMC) to develop and implement relevant, audience-centric marketing and communications initiatives that drive awareness of the breadth and depth of the people, services and resources University Libraries provides. The Consultant implements strategic communications and marketing including writing and storytelling, media relations and digital tactics. The Consultant has the ability to guide and produce strong storytelling deliverables; understands and leverages communication outlets for effective and engaging results; develops narratives, speeches, presentations, captivating storytelling and talking points as needed.
The Consultant oversees project management tools and processes in conjunction with the DSMC; measures and reports performance of marketing campaigns and/or strategies, assessing against goals while optimizing efforts; collaborates with the DSMC to set goals aligned with strategy and identify trends and insights to inform future efforts; oversees the production of marketing materials from conception to completion, including ensuring brand recognition for promotional materials. The Consultant works proactively to cultivate media relationships to reach earned media objectives; researches, writes, edits and distributes press releases, stories and news items; implements both Ohio State’s and University Libraries' style, voice and tone and brand standards, works closely with DSMC to ensure alignment of departmental and university-wide strategic direction and values across communication touch points.
This role supervises the graphic designer to accomplish marketing goals; directs student employees in the execution of the marketing and advertising materials and the supporting activities, as well as perform special projects and other job duties as assigned. The Consultant represents University Libraries on appropriate university-level committees; develops collaborative relationships with other university units to leverage interdisciplinary engagement and to promote and advance University Libraries and university goals.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in marketing and communications environment.
6 years of experience in the marketing and communications field (preferred 8-12 years) with demonstrated experience executing on strong creative writing and storytelling in both digital and print formats.
Proven ability to successfully develop, manage and prioritize multiple projects and project management systems when implementing multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns and/or strategies.
Demonstrated ability to work proactively, effectively and innovatively in a collaborative and complex environment with multiple stakeholder audiences and needs.
Project and production management experience.
Ability to analyze data, measure against established benchmarks and make recommendations accordingly.
Efficient vendor and budget management.
Proficiency in AP writing style and understanding of branding.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Self-directed and responsible with excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Supervisory experience.
Advanced degree in relevant field.
Adobe Creative Cloud experience.
Understanding of dynamic email and social media marketing strategies and platforms; experience with Google Analytics and content management systems.
Media relations experience.

The posting range for this position is $81,000-$106,500 annually.
