Position Overview

Are you a skilled Desktop Support Technician with a passion for maintaining smooth network operations? Join our team in Oak Harbor, WA, and support one of our top clients. This role involves managing local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN), planning and coordinating hardware and software installations, and maintaining technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnections. Key Responsibilities

Network Operations: Maintain smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN).

Installation and Reconfiguration: Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication networks.

Technical Expertise: Maintain expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

Propose Solutions: Recommend solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, optimizing cost savings.

Network Documentation: Prepare or ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

Monitoring and Analysis: Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.

Third-Party Coordination: Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

Network Design: Design network or portions of networks, including selection of hardware and software packages.

Must-Have Experience & Qualifications

2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field OR 0 years of experience with a Master's degree in a related field OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience.

Security+ or equivalent certification.

Active secret clearance.

Preferred Skills (Plusses)

Server-focused experience highly desired.

Linux+ or Microsoft certification preferred.

Experience with Microsoft WSUS or SCCM.

Experience with Windows Servers 2016/2019.

Experience with Windows desktop operating systems (WIN10 SHB).

Experience with RedHat desktop operating systems (RHEL 7/8) highly desired.

Experience digesting and implementing DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).

Experience with patching Microsoft servers and workstations.

Experience with VMware.

Familiarity with VDI technologies and protocols.
