Healthcare Interpreter - (Cantonese)

Job Description

Job Summary:

To provide interpreting services via telephone and/or video relay to our customers and their

clients by performing the following duties:

Duties/Responsibilities:

Fluency in the languages to be interpreted.

To facilitate understanding in communication by faithfully interpreting, into the target language, everything being said without adding, omitting or changing anything

To maintain impartiality and show no bias or preference toward either party while interpreting.

To interpret in the first form at all times; clarify when necessary (informing both parties) and maintain the highest level of confidentiality as well as abide by code of ethics for interpreters.

To be aware of his/her own culture and other cultures encountered in their duties and explaining any cultural differences when appropriate.

To preserve the highest level of proficiency by continuing to improve his/her interpreting skills and ethical performance.

Must demonstrate the highest level of customer service towards our clients and theirs, at all times.

Perform all office functions and other reasonable, related duties as assigned or requested

Required Qualifications:

Fluency in one of the following: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Mandarin

Some form of healthcare background - will accept someone who has received any time of vocational training, has worked as a CNA, or handled insurance benefits questions in any form

Education and Experience:

One year certificate from college or technical school; minimum six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
