Specification Writer

-We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Specification Writer to join our dynamic architectural and engineering practice.

Our client is one of the leading technology-based products and services holding in Oman, and Conseil, a large Moroccan consultancy engineering firm, operating across the African Continent and the Middle East.

The Job

You will be responsible for preparing, managing, and maintaining project specifications across a range of building types, ensuring they align with design intent, technical standards, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in building materials and systems, a clear understanding of interdisciplinary coordination, and hands-on experience with structured specification writing software (e.g., NBS Chorus, Masterspec, SpecLink, or equivalent).

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare comprehensive architectural, engineering, and infrastructure specifications from concept through construction documentation phases.

Use structured specification software to draft, organize, and update specifications in line with project requirements.

Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and consultants to ensure specifications reflect current design development and technical details.

Ensure specifications are clear, concise, consistent, and aligned with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.

Maintain and update master specification templates to ensure best practices, lessons learned, and latest technologies are incorporated.

Cross-check specifications with drawings to ensure complete alignment and minimal discrepancies.

Advise project teams on appropriate materials, systems, and construction methods based on project goals, sustainability objectives, and cost considerations.

Assist in reviewing contractor submittals related to specified products and materials during construction phases.

Participate in project quality reviews and contribute to technical risk mitigation.

Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

5+ years of relevant experience in a professional architectural or engineering environment.

Strong proficiency with structured specification writing platforms (e.g., NBS Chorus, BSD SpecLink, Masterspec, or similar).

Familiarity with local and international building codes, sustainability standards, and industry best practices.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Professional certification or membership (e.g., CSI CDT, CCS, or similar) is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with BIM integration and how specifications interact with digital project models.

Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (e.g., LEED, BREEAM, Estidama) and related material requirements.

Familiarity with international project delivery standards if working in a multinational environment.
