As CS/SPD OR Liaison, you will perform and serve as a resource for coordination and oversight of instrument readiness in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), helping facilitate efficient case flow. You will assist in projects and process improvement initiatives to promote patient and caregiver service/satisfaction throughout the facility. This role offers an excellent way to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience and create the welcoming environment our communities have come to expect.
A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 2:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist the Operating Room (OR) staff in preparing the suite for surgery by verifying instrument trays are available before case start times.
Keep track of case flow during the day, monitor instrument needs and notify SPD personnel in advance of any possible additional/emergent instrumentation needs.
Assist with planning and coordination of instrument turnarounds and help communicate to the surgical team essential instrumentation information that may affect or delay surgery start time.
Assist OR and SPD leadership on procedure card creation and/or changes to ensure accuracy.
Assist in and monitor projects on an as needed basis.
Identify instrumentation related to tray additions and reconfigurations, building surgeons specialty sets, etc.
Report findings and revisions to the Sterile Processing Supervisor, Manager or Director as deemed appropriate.
Assist in the transportation of sterilized instrumentation to the operating rooms as needed.
Verify that the required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available.
Ensure continuity and quality of surgical procedures by providing support services in the operating room.
Perform case cart audits, room visits for OR frictions, post case cart audits and tray audits as needed.
Perform KPI data analysis to understand trends and identify operational issues within the operating rooms and SPD and Enter KPI data into Sterile Processing Department portal daily.
Maintain daily communication with OR management and SPD leadership on instrument needs, turn overs and frictions.
Complete documentation as required for inventory/equipment requests, instrument sets, etc.
Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the Operating Room (OR) and Sterile Processing (SPD) environments.
Analyze operational workflows, gather feedback and recommend actionable solutions to address challenges and enhance overall performance
Partner with key stakeholders to streamline processes, reduce variability and standardize procedures where appropriate.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by AST
Five years of relevant work experience in a surgical setting

Physical Requirements:

Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to >than 75 pounds.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
