Job Summary

Galveston College is an innovative public post-secondary institution, which is dedicated to student success and teaching and learning. Faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence and are primarily responsible for instruction, curriculum design, development, and evaluation of academic programs. Faculty are also responsible for the identification and assessment of appropriate student learning outcomes. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in their subject area and fulfill each of the following functions throughout their employment at the College.

Job Functions

Asynchronous, on-line teaching in a variety of Bachelor of Science courses.

Create/maintain curriculum, syllabi, and LMS to effectively meet course objectives and program outcomes.

Advisor and mentor to students in the RN-BSN program.

Maintains a daily on campus presence.

Excellent verbal and written communication with all students, faculty, and staff.

Provides timely response to emails, student concerns, and assignment grading.

Demonstrate commitment to a student-centered approach, as expected as an employee of Galveston College.

Required Qualifications

Master's in Nursing.

3 years' experience teaching in an academic institution.

Unencumbered Texas License as a Registered Nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate in nursing; or other discipline with an MSN.

Previous experience teaching on-line and in a post-licensure program.

Recent clinical nursing experience, preferably within last 5 years.

Community Health background.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a classroom, office, lab, and/or clinical settings; no unusual circumstances.

Special Requirements

• Subject to a criminal background check prior to employment.
