Farnsworth Group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer in one of the below posting locations. In this role, you will be responsible for working collaboratively within a team to help design, manage, and deliver technically excellent Transportation Structural Engineering projects that serve local and nationwide clients.

Job Activities:

Serve as a strong, technical resource to help mentor, manage, and provide QC/QA for Transportation Structural Team staff

Serve as an Engineer-of-Record including lead/perform designs for typical, advanced typical, and complex bridge design projects

Perform and/or supervise structural planning, analysis, and design for structural aspects of transportation projects

Technical supervision and management of bridge staff on design projects that could include steel plate girders, prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, substructures, foundations, box culverts, retaining and noise walls, interchange or river structures for highway and railway bridge projects

Serve as a client and project manager (communications, scope, schedule, budget, and quality) on transportation structure projects, and supervise other structural staff in the performance of engineering tasks

Provide QC/QA related to structure designs and projects

Assist in the preparation of project proposals and statements of qualifications

Specific Requirements include:

Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering

Illinois Licensed Structural Engineer (SE)

8+ years of bridge engineering experience including experience with advanced typical structures

Engineer-of-Record with hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design including codes, calculations, technical reports, and final structural contract documents

Knowledge and experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software

Demonstrated leadership skills, communication skills and ability to work with various teams

Solid communications skills and willingness to work in a team environment

Must be comfortable sharing technical knowledge, and mentoring less experienced staff

5+ years of experience working with IDOT and/or Tollway Facility Bridge projects

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with complex and/or railroad structures

Masters in Structural Engineering

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)

Project management and Client Management skills and experience

NHI certification for Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges

Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: Bentley CONNECT, OpenBridge Designer (LEAP Bridge Steel, LEAP Bridge Concrete, and/or RM Bridge), LEAP CONSYS, LPile, Eriksson Culvert, AASHTOWare BrR, RISA-3D, SPW911, Mathcad Prime, Enercalc, BlueBeam, or other Finite Element or Foundation analysis/design software

Salary Range: $100,000-$150,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
