Custom Software Systems Inc. (CSS), is seeking an experienced COBOL Developer for a remote opportunity. The selected candidate will be a US Citizen who can be cleared. The candidate must have at minimum eight (8) years of experience in the following: IBM mainframe experience, COBOL and JCL.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, upgrade, test, implement, and document software components of client applications.
Work independently and/or within teams throughout all phases of the development lifecycle.
Communicate with end users, business analysts, and systems analysts to determine features, requirements, and solution design.
Develop enhancements to suite of applications using leading software principles.
Document technical specifications and designs.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues as needed.
Adhere to established design, coding, naming, and standards.
Participate in code reviews and apply corrections as required.
Adhere to change control processes.
Write/revise documentation including operations and user guidelines.
Define and document requirements and develop supportable application solutions to automate business processes.
Lead development efforts consisting of multiple developers or multi-thread development projects.
Advise others on detailed specifications for translations into structure application programs conforming to established CIOO methodology and standards.
Accountable for completion of work on time to meet business performance expectations.
Supervise the writing/revision of program documentation, application operational procedures and client user guide in accordance with standards and client needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be U.S. Citizen
Must be able to get Public Trust provided by client
Minimum 8 years IBM mainframe experience
Minimum 8 Years COBOL and proficient in COBOL
Minimum 8 Years JCL and proficient in JCL
Minimum 5 years DB2 (SQL, stored procedures)
minimum 2 years SAS language
Proficiency in analysis, and communication skills (written and oral).
EDUCATION:
BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
