What you will do:

The Human Resources and Health & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of human resources and health and safety programs for both Bowtech located in Eugene, Oregon, and Blackgold located in Belgrade, Montana. This position will be working onsite at the Bowtech facility in Eugene Oregon.

Reporting to the CFO, this role combines HR duties relating to recruitment, employee relations, training, performance management, and compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

HR Administration

Ensure company policies, procedures and practices are in compliance with federal, state and local labor laws and regulations including equal employment opportunity (EEO).

Ensure effective execution of unemployment and workers compensation administration, new hire and termination processes, leave of absences administration, FMLA/OFLA/PLO administration and tracking, employee file maintenance, HR electronic files, etc.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.

Administer the Workshare program.

Employee Relations, Communication & Culture:

Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.

Develop and implement initiatives to improve employee morale, engagement and retention.

Address employee concerns and effectively investigate and work to resolve issues in a fair and timely manner while promoting a positive work environment.

Advise and coach supervisors on resolution of employee concerns.

Coach managers/supervisors on corrective action, disciplinary actions and terminations.

Facilitate employee communication and engagement activities.

Recruitment and Selection:

Establish effective recruitment strategies to attract and hire qualified candidates.

Manage the entire hiring process: working with hiring managers to develop or update the job description, posting the job, screening applicants, conducting interviews, presenting job offers and conducting background checks.

Manage employee onboarding process and work with managers to ensure all new hires have the proper tools for their first day.

Compensation and Benefits:

Administer compensation, benefits, payroll processing, insurance, and retirement plans in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.

Conduct salary surveys and wage reviews to ensure competitive compensation practices.

Manage employee benefits including coordinating with broker and finance team on benefits plan design, strategy, timely administration or submission of paperwork, communication to benefits carriers for employee change administration, and effective employee communication processes.

Oversee and carry out annual open enrollment process including all communications, benefit education, enrollments, changes, tracking of paperwork, etc.

Training and Development:

Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.

Maintain training records and of training dates and work with third-party vendors to arrange offsite training.

Partner with manufacturing leaders to build effective on-the-job training and skill level evaluation process.

Payroll:

Processes bi-weekly payroll in ADP.

Enters all garnishments, and deductions for state and federal liens, along with commissions and loans.

Administer group benefits

Prepare W-2 at yearend

Ensures confidentiality of all payroll records.

Health & Safety:

Develop, implement, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and other relevant health and safety regulations ensuring employees understand their role in maintaining a safe work environment.

Regularly conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure the work environment is safe for all employees.

Manage the reporting and investigation of workplace accidents, injuries, and safety violations, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions are taken.

Maintain records and documentation required for compliance reporting, including accident reports, safety inspections, and regulatory filings.

Management member of the safety team supporting safety improvement plans and employee training objectives.

Responsible for leading and taking minutes at monthly safety committee meetings.

Responsible for Workers’ Compensation; OSHA compliance, filing 801’s and working with Work comp adjusters.

Work with managers to maintain SDS and ensure WHMIS compliance.

Other Duties:

Manage offboarding processes.

Maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of HR best practices, federal, state, and local labor laws, and OSHA regulations and safety standards.

Highly self-directed and able to manage his/her schedule to meet all reasonable deadlines.

Ability to recruit high quality candidates at all levels.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with a keen attention to detail.

Experience handling department administrative functions including filing, status changes, time and attendance/payroll admin, insurance enrollment, workers comp and unemployment administration, FMLA/OFLA/PLO administration.

Experience facilitating employee training and communication meetings.

Qualifications Required Are:

· Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in human resources and safety management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

· BS / BA in Human Resource Management or related preferred.

· SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred.

· Previous experience processing payroll is required, knowledge of ADP is preferred.

· Previous experience administering benefit programs.

· Workshare Program administration experience preferred.

· Strong computer skills using Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required.
