Job Title: Johnsburg High School Principal

Reports to: Principal, Superintendent

Summary: The responsibility of the Assistant Principal of Johnsburg High School, is to provide leadership in all facets of student activities including scheduling and administering extracurricular activities, scheduling school facilities, managing the master event calendar, selecting and supervising adult sponsor for activity groups, planning special events and ceremonies, coordinating school assemblies, managing budgets associated with student activities, oversight of student leadership activities, providing oversight for fundraising and coordinating. These duties are to be performed as it aligns with the mission of Johnsburg School District 12, which is to create a safe and challenging learning environment which develops character and inspires students to become productive lifelong learners.

Conditions of Employment:

Year round, 260 days, 8 hours per day

Competitive Salary commensurate with experience

Starting Salary: $90,000 annually

Board Paid 9.0% TRS

Qualifications:

ISBE Professional Educator License with an Illinois approved General Administrative Endorsement.

Thorough knowledge of teaching, supervision, communication, human relations, and guidance skills.

Prior supervisory/administrative experience preferred.

Strong oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance

Essential Responsibilities:

Assists the Principal and District Curriculum Director with developing, implementing and overseeing the 9th through 12th grade curriculum and instruction programs in accordance with District goals and objectives, as well as with applicable laws.

Collaborate with the Principal and other district Administrators to establish a robust school improvement plan that is aligned to district initiatives inclusive of SMART goals, key performance indicators, and clearly articulated action steps for improvement.

Student conduct - works with teams of teachers to promote positive discipline and involves parents in the process.

Directs the curriculum development and revision process in accordance with the District's curriculum development plan/cycle and state and national standards.

Monitors and supports individual department plans and activities including department staff and PLC meetings.

Supports the orientation and mentoring of new teachers.

Assists with the selection and adoption of instructional materials, textbooks, and media and software materials.

Interprets, evaluates and analyzes student assessment and program evaluation results for the purpose of improving instruction and student achievement.

Coordinates the development and implementation of effective and efficient assessment systems and data collection processes that provide a record of baseline measures and track longitudinal trends.

Works with administrators, principal and classroom teachers to develop programs and incorporate practices and technology that help students of differing abilities and interests to achieve high standards.

Works with administrators and teachers to develop and implement summer school programs.

Assists the Principal with overseeing and coordinating the evaluation of certified staff.

Participates in the analysis and recommendations derived from the District testing programs.

Supervises all staff and carries out those supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Johnsburg School District 12 policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable laws.

Communicates the latest developments in curriculum and innovative instructional programs, aligned to educational best practice to improve student achievement.

Develops and directs school, community and parent involvement programs as appropriate to the instructional programs.

Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings.

Assists the building Principal in the utilization of meaningful feedback of students, staff, families, and community in the evaluation of instructional programs and school procedures.

Proactively engages families and communities in supporting student learning and the school's shared mission, vision and learning goals.

Protects the rights and confidentiality of all students and staff.

Assists the building Principal in the establishment and monitoring of a culture of high aspirations and achievement for every student.
