Description
Plans and implements an Extended School Year program that includes instruction in communication, life, and social skills; works with elementary school students that require additional support with SOL-based curriculum taught in the previous school year; utilizes best practices in teaching to achieve student?s IEP goals; manages student behavior; follows pre-designed lessons, activities, and maintains appropriate pacing; orders, receives, and distributes supplies; participates in Summer Collaborative Team meetings; collaborates with administrators, central office staff, teachers, and paraprofessionals; assists with routine care, including personal hygiene, feeding, and other tasks; maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, regulation, and policy.
Qualifications
Must hold a license issued by the Virginia Department of Education and an endorsement in Special Education, with experience in teaching Special Education students. Experience in teaching at the elementary level, preferred. Knowledge of the instructional practices, techniques, and materials pertaining to the assigned teaching specialty; proficiency in technology; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families; ability to engage and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and varied skill levels in a collaborative learning environment.
