Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Administrative Specialist I provides administrative support to leadership, a variety of staff, and/or faculty member(s). Provides general clerical, administrative, and/or operational support and helps ensure an efficient and friendly office environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs basic administrative support/clerical functions as requested, such as receiving and logging information, creating and maintaining files, making copies, sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail, preparing basic correspondence or documents, answering routine questions etc.

Uses a variety of software in performance of duties, with a focus on Microsoft Office Suite

Answers in-coming phone calls and assists callers by responding to basic questions and forwarding calls to appropriate parties

Greets visitors to the area in a friendly, professional manner. Provides general directions/guidance within scope of responsibility

Provides ad-hoc support for assigned divisions (employees and students), and for other areas as needed during busy times

Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to document expenses PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment

Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's' degree

Hourly Pay Rate is $11.78
