Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled PLC Technician to support our engineered stone manufacturing operations. This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and programming PLC systems and related automation equipment to ensure optimal production performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial automation, a strong understanding of electrical systems, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.

Dvelop, modify, and optimize PLC programs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider) to improve equipment performance and efficiency.

Perform diagnostics and analysis on control systems and related instrumentation (HMI, sensors, VFDs, SCADA, etc.).

Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to implement process improvements and support equipment upgrades.

Maintain accurate documentation of PLC programs, electrical schematics, and maintenance logs.

Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, minimizing downtime and production disruptions.

Train maintenance personnel and operators on PLC system functionality and basic troubleshooting techniques.

Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all electrical and automation work.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to follow instructions and seek guidance when needed.

Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Qualifications:

Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Electronics, or related field.

Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with PLC systems in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably engineered stone or similar heavy process industry.

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams.

Experience with PLC programming platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, or Schneider EcoStruxure.

Strong knowledge of motor controls, drives, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.).

Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and data logging.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline

Certification with a focus on PLS’s that provide technical skills.

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

Experience in SCADA development and integration.

Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems (CMMS).

Basic understanding of mechanical systems in stone fabrication (mixing, pressing, polishing lines).

Working Conditions

Work in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, and machinery.

May be required to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts to support production needs.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform work on ladders or in confined spaces when necessary.

Physical Job Requirements:

Environment: Work in an industrial setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures and confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required. Working at heights. Operate forklift and aerial lift.

Hours: Standard working hours with the possibility of overtime, shift work, or being on call for emergency maintenance needs.
