JOB SUMMARY
The Program Coordinator performs the primary functions of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the Observation Unit on a 24 hour basis.
Develops day-to-day management and long-term planning of the patient care area. Directs and develops staff; demonstrates fiscal responsibility; collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff; ensures an environment conducive to patient and family centered care.
Registered Nurses have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives. In addition, Registered Nurses must uphold the standards of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing - BSN
Minimum Work Experience
2 years of leadership experience
2 years of acute care experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
Registered Nurse
BLS (required within 90 days)
ACLS (required within 90 days)
NIHSS (required within 90 days)

Ability to select, train, develop, and supervise human resources
Ability to improve outcomes through knowledge of quality assessment & performance improvement activities
Excellent human relations, oral/written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate with community, consumers, physicians, and other members of the health care team
Audit, monitor, and retrieve data
Lead and coordinate Observation Unit meetings
Strong computer skills; inputs data into computer programs
Ability to handle confidential information
