75+ Branches Across North America RF Solutions Engineer, who will report to the Engineering Manager, must be able to perform systems and solutions consulting support and project delivery through the systems delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Systems solutions consulting, engineering, and systems project delivery with expertise in 2 or more of the following areas:
Radio
BDA/DAS
LMR
PLTE
Video
Microwave
Develop large scale and/or multiple technology solution designs for large projects over >$250K
Deliver highly technical business presentations to customers.
Develop systems solutions by gathering information, researching different vendor technologies, and performing systems integration work.
Perform RF designs and RF propagation analysis and study.
Prepare and maintain project documents used throughout the systems delivery lifecycle project plan, actions log, risk and issue registers, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, milestone tracking for invoicing, etc.
Prepare project charts, conceptual and detail system designs, network diagrams, floor plans, rack layouts, bills of materials, and project documents.
Utilize site survey results to develop requirements for system design, including RF data collection
Model indoor propagation and capacity to determine antenna placement and equipment needs
Understand and apply requirements for multiple operating systems
Develop system equipment and build of materials list
Review and approve final design construction documents
Design and integrate communications systems to support our customers' business requirements.
Develop and deliver consolidated user-friendly documentation that includes prediction models with an associated build of materials using standard office applications such as Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
Deliver final as-built design details following receipt of coverage test results.
Liaise with sales executives, sales engineers, and other systems engineers.
Mentor team designers and engineers with less experience and expertise
Crosstrain other engineer co-workers in areas of expertise
Ensure assigned projects are running on time and within budget and in alignment with specifications and quality requirements.
Manage customer relationships and ensure project confidence.
Interface with sales team regarding the technical design of projects related to two-way radio systems, DAS BDA, Video, and LTE Networks.
Conduct site survey analysis of buildings to assess RF coverage and performance using TEMs Pocket by InfoVista. Perform pre-design and post installation site surveys for all services BearCom provides. This may include but not limited to inbuilding coverage testing, iDAS, oDAS and LMR surveys.
Other areas may include processing with TEMs Discovery and collaboration with Field Service Teams, in public safety and cellular site survey, fiber optic testing, some Microwave and RAN responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Wireless, Radio Communications, Computers, or PE certification with 5 years of proven work experience as an RF (Radio Frequency) Designer or Engineer or similar role
Current iBwave Level 2 Certification
Proficiency in using TEMs Pocket and Discovery by InfoVista, PCTEL Scanner, iBwave Scanner and iBwave design software.
Knowledge of electricity, electronics, telecommunications, radio communications, networking, video, and wireless principles preferred.
Ability to investigate and solve complex problems and implement related work improvements with cross functional team members.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
Experience with RF system design and implementation including antennas and filtering.
Experience with systems solutions consulting, engineering practices, processes, and project delivery.
Familiarity with general construction industry and practices.
Familiarity with the life cycle of a project Experience with MS Office skills including Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
Ability to write, read, interpret, explain and act based on a thorough understanding of technical documents, engineering materials and contracts or related documents.
Consistently demonstrates a commitment to policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflicts of interest and ethical responsibilities.
Ability to perform work under pressure due to time schedules and workload which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenges, and project management deadlines.
May require working additional hours beyond normal schedule to meet specific job deadlines
Ability to use machines, tools, equipment, and work aids include PCs, printers, copiers, faxes, and other equipment commonly associated with an office work area.
Work is generally performed in an office environment; you must be able to operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 75% of work time, including prolonged periods of time.
Ability to work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character distinction and moderate hand/finger dexterity. The movement and transportation of equipment most of the time is under 25 pounds.
Travel will be required on an as needed basis between 25 - 50%
