The Opportunity
Our location in Columbus OH currently has an opportunity for a Senior Project Leader, Packaging Supplier Quality.
The primary function of the Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) is to assure a high-quality supply of materials through evaluation and development of Abbott Nutrition suppliers worldwide. Packaging SQA is responsible for working and communicating with packaging suppliers as part of an ongoing supplier management process. Packaging SQA supports the following areas: (1) Supplier qualification, (2) Supplier development & monitoring, (3) Supplier corrective & preventative actions, (4) Continuous improvement of department & supplier performance, and (5) Regulatory documentation.
The Senior Quality Project Leader (Packaging) should exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills and support the training and development of Associate Project Leaders and Quality Project Leaders in the department. The Sr. Quality Project Leader will be expected to manage more projects with a larger scope and complexity. The Senior Quality Project Leader (Packaging) should meet and/or exceed the Abbott Core Competency requirements, as well as:
Exhibit excellent communication and leadership skills.
Successfully interact and communicate with all organizational levels internally and externally.
Demonstrate ability to manage several activities and projects at once. Including the ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, prepare plans and reports.
Possess a thorough knowledge of quality assurance principles and manufacturing processes (production, logistics, and engineering).
Possess a technical understanding of different technologies, product quality systems, and supplier programs.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Perform supplier qualification assessments to ensure quality systems, processes, and facilities meet Abbott & regulatory requirements.
Work with Package Development to develop, validate, and support the qualification of new packaging.
Lead investigations to resolve and troubleshoot supplier processing or packaging issues. Resolve packaging quality issues in a timely manner.
Support the development and monitoring of supplier performance. Engage with supplier’s leadership team to develop sustainable long-term improvements.
Ability to work closely with all levels of Abbott & Supplier’s organization, including senior leaders within either organization.
Sr. Project Leaders will drive improvements, corrective actions, and continuous improvements with minimal oversight by management. This involves bringing together key cross functional partners or supplier partners to drive actions to resolution. If there are any challenges or roadblocks these will be communicated back to management team, including options to address these challenges.
Sr. Project Leaders will need to be able to see the find opportunities for improvement, including internal processes, systems, or technologies.
Sr. Project leaders will have the ability to drive updates to Abbott procedures or create new procedures if required.
Support resolution and approval of exception reports within the plants.
Work with plants to develop sampling and correction plans when resolving packaging quality issues.
Manage supplier CAPAs and improvements plans as required (weekly, monthly, etc.).
Report information on supplier performance internally and externally including interpreting to scorecard and trending information.
Develop supplier’s systems and processes to improve performance and process capability.
Work with suppliers to conduct Gage R&R studies at qualification.
Ensure supplier in-line equipment is properly validated.
Conduct reviews to supplier regulatory documentation submitted with all packaging changes and new qualifications. Ensure documentation meets regulatory compliance.
Support maintaining and evaluating suppliers approved listings and status.
Ensure proposed changes made to supplier processes are approved and compliant.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, technical, or science field required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality, packaging engineering, supplier quality assurance programs or related experience in operations, or quality assurance.

The base pay for this position is $85,300.00 – $170,700.00
