Role: Intermediate Controls PLC Programmer

Type: 6 month contract + extension/conversion to FTE

Location: Onsite 5x/week in Cambridge, ON

Rate: $35-$45/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Controls System PLC Programmer to join a leading automation company. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing automation solutions for programmed machines that have not yet been tested. This involves designing and developing Allen Bradley PLC software programs with the use of Allen Bradley Servo Motion to fit the specific requirements of their client. The candidate will be responsible for integrating their designs into the machines on the shop floor and perform all testing/debugging to ensure the program runs accordingly with no design problems and fulfilment of change order requests by the client. The final phase requires tearing down the machine to be shipped to the customer site, and traveling to the desired location for reconstruction in the US (3 weeks min 5 weeks max). The successful candidate will be required to come into the Cambridge location 5 days per week.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of relevant experience in the field (PLC, AB)

Strong ground up Allen Bradley PLC coding experience

Must have basic ABB Robot experience (at least 1 year and able to integrate a robot with existing code)

Able to travel 3-6 weeks during the contract outside of Canada (US, Europe)

Flexible - overtime and weekend work occasionally required

Strong written and oral communication with a self starter attitude

Post secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering
