Description

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Shipfitters for projects located in Newport News, VA. This is a first shift opportunity and the pay rate is up to $45/hour based on experience and skill level plus $120/per diem for travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Job Scope:

Manual Oxygen/Propane Burning and Heating Torches

Working with vibratory tools, grinders, and needle guns

Air Carbon Arc Gouging

Fabricate and assemble steel structures based on blueprints and specifications

Erect and set up complex-shaped shell plates, decks, bulkheads, and more

Use work packages and drawings to plan and execute tasks

Requirements

Must hold US citizenship to meet necessary badging requirements

Experience with structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols

Ability to fabricate, assemble, and install complex structural parts (e.g., hull inserts, foundations, decks)

Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations in shipbuilding

Physically capable to work in demanding environments
