Purpose
As an Automation Expert, you will play a critical role in driving data-centric automation performance at TM2. You will work across technical and operational teams to analyze system data, optimize processes, and lead initiatives within the Automation Team roadmap. Your role bridges the gap between Operation, Asset Management and IT, using your deep understanding of control systems, analytics, and automation strategy to deliver impactful results in a semi-automated container terminal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and contribute to the Automation Team roadmap, aligning projects with terminal objectives.
Identify automation improvement opportunities across operations and maintenance domains.
Collaborate with architecture and technical specialists to translate data insights into automation enhancements.
Collect, clean, and process data from various systems for actionable insights.
Execute advanced analytics focused on performance improvement and cost reduction.
Generate and maintain performance metrics and KPIs for automation systems.
Self-initiate and drive automation pipeline development.
Monitor system elements, identify technical issues, and ensure timely resolution.
Perform root cause analysis and lead technical incident follow-ups.
Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
Ensure stakeholder expectations, SLAs, and deliverables are met and aligned.
Proactively uphold Health & Safety procedures and standards.
Raise and mitigate potential HSE risks during automation implementation.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Electronics, Computer Science, or related fields.
Minimum 5+ years in PLC-based controls design, development, and support.
Hands-on experience with Siemens S7-300 PLCs, SCADA and DCS systems.
Demonstrated experience in Robotic Process Automation and Container Handling Equipment.
Control Systems Engineering: Demonstrated experience in PLC programming (Siemens S7-300,1200, 1500), SCADA systems (WinCC and Ignition), and motion control & drive systems for automated container handling equipment.
Industrial Networking & Protocols: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AS-i, Profibus, CAN and Profinet networks; experienced in implementing communication protocols such as OPC DA/UA and MQTT for robust system integration.
Artificial Vision & OCR Systems: Hands-on experience with artificial vision systems and OCR technologies with a focus on optimization and developing innovative automation solutions.
Data Analytics & Performance Monitoring: Skilled in deploying condition monitoring systems, analyzing KPIs, and using data insights to drive predictive maintenance and improve operational performance.
Project and Lifecycle Management: Demonstrated capability in managing the complete lifecycle of automation systems—from design and commissioning to upgrades and long-term support—through structured project methodologies and close collaboration with vendors.
Solid understanding of Lean methodology, with the ability to apply lean principles to optimize automation workflows and reduce waste.
Agile mindset with SCRUM/KANBAN/ working knowledge.
Proven initiative and ability to work independently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (English mandatory).
Excellent organization, time management, and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and deliver results.
Team-oriented with a continuous improvement and leadership mindset.
