Description Under occasional supervision, serves a variety of criminal and civil papers; performs physical removal of people and property as ordered, and provides court security as scheduled.

Examples of Duties ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Searches for subjects to be served; serves criminal and civil process papers in a timely and effective manner; prepares affidavits of service.
Performs physical removal of persons and property and executes property repossessions as per court orders.
Serves as court room clerk and bailiff as assigned.
Provides security during court proceedings to ensure law and order at all times; assists judges, attorneys, jurors and plaintiffs and defendants as necessary.
Receives and responds to public inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints regarding department procedures and operations.
Schedules and directs Magistrate's sales.
Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to typing reports and correspondence, entering computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, making bank deposits, etc.
Maintains assigned equipment and vehicles.
Receives and reviews various records and reports, including summonses, complaints, notices to show cause, claim and delivery, subpoenas, warrants, memos, correspondence, etc.
Prepares various documents, including writs of possession, orders of possession, letters of intent, letters of failure to locate, affidavits of service, etc.
Refers to policy and procedure manuals, codes, regulations, laws, maps, directories, bench books, etc.
Operates a vehicle and various types of office equipment, machinery and tools in the performance of duties such as a computer, printer, adding machine, telephone, fax machine, copier, two-way radio.
Uses office and computer supplies.
Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other County personnel, law enforcement personnel, other government agencies, attorneys, court personnel, jurors, judges, defendants, plaintiffs, landlords, and the general public.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Transports documents to various locations as requested; picks up department supplies.
Performs other related duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of driving, walking, climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which involves the lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 50 pounds). Typical Qualifications EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by two to three years of experience in civil process, court administration, law enforcement, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Must be Constable certified within one year of hire date.
Must maintain certification through annual legal and firearm training updates.
Must possess a valid S.C.
driver's license.
