Hey there, organizer-extraordinaire

Do you thrive on keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes? Love planning unforgettable events and streamlining chaos into calm? This in-person role is your chance to help scale a fast-growing company while shaping a culture people actually want to be part of.

We're looking for a sharp, proactive Executive Assistant & Event Planner to support our CEO and build unforgettable team experiences that make SelfPublishing.com one of the best places to work in Austin.

About Us

At SelfPublishing.com, we help people turn their ideas into published books-and those books into lasting impact. With over 7,000 authors in 90+ countries, we're on a mission to help 100,000 authors publish by 2035. We've built the go-to platform for writing, self-publishing, and book marketing-and we're just getting started.

Your Mission

Keep our CEO focused on high-impact work by handling logistics, communication, and operational tasks-while also creating culture-building events that strengthen our team and brand.

What You'll Do

Executive Assistant

You'll be the right hand to our CEO, Chandler, helping him stay focused on what matters most.

Manage Chandler's calendar, inbox, travel, and meetings

Handle personal errands and basic home management tasks

Oversee office supplies, vendor coordination, and internal ops

Track and optimize budgets for travel, operations, and events

Implement process improvements to increase efficiency

Support PR efforts to build Chandler's and the company's brand in Austin (e.g., awards, media features, "Fastest Growing Company" lists)

Event Planner

You'll take the lead on planning and running unforgettable events that build connection, culture, and visibility.

Plan and execute company retreats, off-sites, and team events

Organize Texas-based events (conferences, recruiting, trainings, community service)

Host team gatherings and networking events at Chandler's home

Help establish SelfPublishing.com as one of Austin's top companies and best places to work

Partner with leadership to amplify team connection, brand recognition, and local community engagement

You Might Be the One If You Have:

3-5+ years in an Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, or Event Planning role

Experience supporting C-suite or high-level executives

Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills

The ability to juggle multiple tasks while staying calm and focused

An eye for details, logistics, and creating memorable experiences

A proactive, can-do attitude and team-first mindset

Passion for helping people grow in a mission-driven workplace

Bonus Points For:

Experience in a startup, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environment

Familiarity with budget tracking, vendor management, and home office coordination

Love for books, learning, and people-focused missions

Tools You'll Use:

Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Notion

Zoom, Calendly, Eventbrite

Basic budgeting tools (Sheets, QuickBooks, etc.)

Optional: Canva, social media scheduling tools, HubSpot

Why This Role Rocks

You'll get a front-row seat to how a fast-growing company is built-while helping shape the culture that fuels our team. You'll be part of a mission that actually matters, surrounded by people who love what they do and want to make a difference.
