Assistant Professor of Practice, Theatre (Acting/Directing North Dakota State University Department of Theatre The Department of Theatre at North Dakota State University, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST), invites applications for full-time employment in the position of Assistant Professor of Practice in Theatre (Acting/Directing). This 9-month appointment will begin in August of 2025.
The department offers a B.F.A degree in Musical Theatre, a B.F.A degree in Performance, and B.A./B.S.
degree in Theatre with an optional emphasis in Design and Technology.
The program seeks highly qualified and collaborative individuals who will play an integral role in the advancement of the program.
Learn more about the Department of Theatre: Job Description The Assistant Professor of Practice in Theatre (Acting/Directing) will teach four courses per semester in Acting, Performance, Directing, and/or general Theatre Practice based on their expertise and experience.
The faculty will direct one production annually.
Directing assignments will count as one course.
Additional service responsibilities include participating in departmental events and advising majors.
Applicants should demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching and directing at the collegiate level.
Minimum Qualifications * MFA in Acting/Performance or Directing (or equivalent degree) * Experience teaching performance at the university level or comparable teaching experience * Experience directing at the university level or comparable directing experience * Effective oral and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications * Minimum one year teaching a full-time or equivalent load in higher education * Training in one or more specialized acting techniques (Meisner, Chekhov, Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, etc.) * Secondary creative/professional expertise in an acting voice methodology or practice (e.g.
Fitzmaurice, Linklater, Hart, Rodenburg), and/or the ability to teach elevated text work, and/or stage dialects.
