Position Description About Harris County Flood Control District: The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County, the third most populated county in the United States, with a population in excess of 4.7 million, including the City of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city.
The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county, which consist of approximately 1,500 channels totaling nearly 2,500 miles in length, as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins, totaling more than 10,000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens bayou.
What you will do at Harris County Flood Control District: The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking exceptional, detail-oriented and qualified candidates for the role of Utility Coordinator.
The Utility Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the District's private utility coordination including utility conflict identification, relocation, and necessary pay-out items.
This position will also assist and work closely with the District's project managers and utility sub- consultants in tracking private utility projects.
Essential Functions and Duties: * Oversee the review of design plans and the utility conflict table for accuracy.
* Issues utility notifications and coordinates office/field meetings with team members, external utility representatives, and consultants when needed.
* Process all purchase order requests including follow-up and distribution.
* Create and distribute all department correspondence including letters, memos, requests for invoices, etc.
* Coordinate agenda items for Commissioners' Court, including after court action items.
* Maintain, track and resolve issues with utility relocation schedules to ensure completion of tasks by agreed-upon dates.
* Provide bi-monthly status update reports and leads the utility coordination & management team status update briefings.
* Oversee contractor's workload, assist in prioritizing tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
* Lead and participate in department initiatives and process improvements.
* Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.
