War Child is seeking a motivated Education Officer who can fulfill the following Job description to join the organization.
Job Summary/ Scope of Work: The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Program Coordinator in overseeing the daily operations and effective implementation of the project, ensuring alignment with the approved project design, budget framework, donor requirements, and compliance with War Child’s policies, procedures, and technical quality standards.
The role will play a vital part in ensuring that the project meets its objectives efficiently and with high quality.
Responsibilities and Tasks Job Responsibility #1: Ensure the implementation of the education -based activities.
Implement the education activities in alignment with War Child’s goals and donor requirements.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community leaders to identify education needs, priorities, and strategies for intervention.
Provide academic based- PSS to Children /students affected by the crises in the targeted areas.
Develop need assessments to identify children’s educational needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
Follow-up the individualized guidance and counseling to children to address academic, behavioral, and emotional issues that may impact their learning and well-being as a result of the crises.
Job Responsibility #2: Ensure the partnership with other main players in Education.
Foster partnerships with community members, local organizations, and educational agencies to promote education initiatives and address barriers to learning within the crisis.
Advocate for the rights of children to access education.
Track progress towards the project goals and objectives, identify challenges and lessons learned, and make recommendations for areas for improvement.
Train teachers, education administrators, and community volunteers on best practices in education during emergencies and child development.
Support the establishment of education-based committees and a student gathering safe space to promote student education, leadership, participation, and empowerment.
Job Responsibility #3: Coordination and Collaboration.
Assist in mapping of existing teaching and learning materials being used in the displacement and host community shelters and identify playful activities at the community level against a framework to identify areas of integration, adaptation, and development of content; Engage with field-level coordination leads, implementing partners, teachers, parents, community leaders and children through structured co-creation processes Support the development/adaptation of training content and testing for teachers, parents and community in displacement communities through participatory and consultative process involving local TLSS and other education partners.
Job Responsibility #4: Coordination with (M&E) Department.
Ensure continuous coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) department to systematically collect and analyze data related to educational activities.
Contribute to the development of M&E tools specific to educational projects and ensure their effective implementation in the field.
Support periodic evaluations to measure the impact of educational programs on children and targeted communities.
Submit regular reports to the M&E department on the progress of activity implementation, challenges, outcomes, and recommendations for performance improvement.
Ensure proper documentation of all educational activities and related outcomes to promote transparency and accountability Job Profile Requirements: Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational development activities in the humanitarian context.
Knowledge of education policies, curriculum frameworks, and pedagogical approaches.
Experience working with children.
Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusion, and child rights in education programming.
Excellent in English, both written and verbal.
