About us

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.

We are looking to continue building our Flexible Workforce that covers a variety of shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and overnights. Our dedicated colleagues play a crucial role towards enabling young people to live independently by providing them with accommodation and life skills. Our team is made up of diverse, caring and compassionate colleagues who are committed to helping young people progress towards independent living.

In this role you will:

Taking Handover: receive and provide comprehensive handovers at the start and end of each shift, ensuring continuity of care and support for service users.

Building Checks: conduct regular building checks and patrols to ensure the premises are safe and secure. Identify and address any maintenance issues, potential hazards, or security breaches.

Supporting Service Users: provide direct support to young people who attend the office, offering guidance, assistance, and a listening ear. Help service users navigate daily challenges and encourage their independence and well-being.

Signposting to Services: direct service users to appropriate services and resources, both within and outside the organisation, to meet their specific needs.

Key-working and managing a case load when providing long-term cover to a service.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available support services and community resources.

Managing Calls: handle incoming and outgoing calls in a professional manner, providing information and assistance as required. Document and relay important messages accurately.

Incident and Safeguarding Response: respond to any incidents or safeguarding concerns immediately, following organisational policies and procedures. Record incidents accurately and report to relevant authorities and management as needed.

Communication with Service Manager: maintain clear and consistent communication with the Service Manager regarding work completed, ongoing issues, and any areas of concern. Provide regular updates and feedback to ensure effective service delivery.

Securing the Site: ensure the site is secure before leaving, including locking doors, securing windows, and activating alarms. Conduct final checks to ensure all safety measures are in place for the next shift.
