QUALIFICATIONS:
Prefer Secondary administrative certificate;
Athletic coaching experience;
Knowledge of Oklahoma Secondary School
Activities Association (OSSAA) rules governinG athletics in senior high schools and in the middle schools;
Demonstrated capacity for leadership;
Minimum three (3) years successful teaching/coaching experience;
The equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in appropriate circumstances REPORTS TO: Principal/District Director of Athletics
JOB GOAL(S): To initiate, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the District and OSSAA.
To serve as a liaison for the District Director of Athletics between the students, faculty, coaches, sponsors, administrators of the building,
and community agencies such as booster clubs, youth athletic organizations, etc.
To assume responsibility for establishing and coordinating all athletic events in cooperation with the District Director of Athletics and the principals for high schools and middle schools.
To improve upon the competitiveness and winning way of individuals and teams involved in athletics and extracurricular activities.
To assist the District Director of Athletics in administration of the athletic program by coordinating the high schools' and middle schools programs
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as liaison with the Director and building principals for the implementation of policy and practices.
Plan and coordinate, with the approval of the Director, the program of events for
Responsible for appropriating and maintaining control of athletic expenditures provided by the District athletics department and schools activity accounts, in cooperation with each school's financial secretary.
Work with the financial secretary regarding cash boxes for gate, approving payment game officials.
Knowledge of the organization, rules, and regulations of the OSSAA.
Assist the Director and building principals with recruiting, interviewing and selection of athletic coaches.
Responsible for working in cooperation with the head coach of each sport to work within the allocated expenditure for each sport at each school.
Work with the head coaches/sponsors/athletic trainer regarding equipment and supplies (requisitioning, inventory, storage, and repair).
Responsible for ensuring that all head coaches submit an inventory, and maintain proper storage and care of equipment and supplies.
Responsible for arranging activities with other schools including athletic contests and game officials, with approval of the Director/Principal.
In cooperation with building principals, responsible for ensuring eligibility of all student-athletes and ensuring that no athlete is permitted to practice or participate unless all appropriate documents on rankone are up to date. Including physicals, accident waivers, drug testing consent, and OSSAA eligibility form.
Assists building principals in the preparation of hosting athletic contests. This would include advance sales, hiring/assigning workers, athletic trainers, ambulance service, physician's service, public address system, scoreboard operation, video board production, pre-game and half-time activities, program selling, news media, etc.
Assist the District Director in the preparation of travel to non-home events. This would include transportation, meals, hotel accommodations, etc.
Responsible for assisting the District Director in the evaluations of all athletic coaches.
Attend OSSAA Eligibility Review meetings.
Assume responsibility for athletic supplies and equipment and prepare priorities for repair of athletic equipment and facilities at the school site.
Assume responsibility for rental of school athletic facilities to non-district organizations.
Monitoring of student athlete recruiting.
Assist Director in the following areas Physical examinations;
Accident insurance;
Safety and monitoring of grades, study tables, weight training and/or conditioning, monitoring of attendance and disciplinary record;
College scholarship opportunities.
Foster good school/community relations by working with booster organizations and keeping the community aware of and responsive to the athletic/activities program.
Oversee management and maintenance of site athletics website/social media accounts.
Develop and place into operation appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of student activities.
Communicate high expectations to coaches, student-athletes, parents, and community.
Establish and adhere to a regular schedule of inspection of all athletic facilities and installations to maintain and improve their safety.
Submit booking forms for athletic events to insure appropriate custodial services and student supervision are scheduled.
Ensure safety of game officials and promote good sportsmanship of all event spectators and participants.
Actively support the District's administrative management concept.
Ensures that all athletics and sponsorship will be in compliance with Title IX and Board Policy.
Ensures that all coaches are in compliance with the Board of Education's policies and administrative regulations regarding athletics/activities.20Maintains the following reports: Record of school sponsored athletic events;
Eligibility lists;
Participation information;
Financial reports;
Equipment inventories;
Statistical records;
Parental consent/physical exam forms
Other reports as directed.
Assist building principals in discipline procedures for coaches and/or student athletes in compliance with OSSAA guidelines and Board policies.
Responsible for conducting student drug testing according to school board policy.
Assume responsibility for matters associated with athletic conference participation including attendance at conference meetings. As well as representing the site school as the voting delegate for any OSSAA and/or Conference voting items.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal.
