Job Title: Principal Engineer - Route/Switch/Wireless
Location: Block 23
What you'll do: As a Principal Engineer I you'll provide SME expertise in your respective domain as well as adjacent domains to ensure solutions are safe, secure, compliant and reliable. You'll identify development and support needs as well as take on large and complex design responsibilities supporting project tasks. You'll also engage with project and business sponsors refining requirements and objectives of targeted solutions. As a Principal Engineer I, you also facilitate dialogue and activities, and work to ensure team collaboration including teams outside of your domain. You'll develop effective presentations and narratives for IT audiences. In this role, you'll also develop the technical skills of one more junior engineers.
Team leads a small group of engineers, developing the engineering roadmap, defining workstreams, and delegation
Plan, design, deploy and mature network infrastructure, services, and processes to meet business needs
Deliver on-target KPIs for service availability, capacity, and performance management
Provide escalation-level support to our incident, problem, and change management processes
Collaborate with IT Governance during assessments and audits, providing evidence to support the control framework
Procure and evaluate bleeding-edge technology solutions and present recommendations
Lead complex engineering projects e.g., vendor-to-vendor migrations, mergers, and acquisitions
Drive standardization, reduce needless complexity, challenge convention
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation (HLDs/LLDs/SOPs/KBs)
Ongoing proactive maintenance of network infrastructure & services
Participation in business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing, and maturity
Participation in operational support 24x7 on-call rotation as required

What you'll need:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology is required, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience
8+ years overall IT engineering industry experience with evidence of ongoing personal development
Strong leadership, organization, and mentorship skills with demonstratable experience
Professional-level certifications with Cisco and/or other closely related technologies. CCIE level skills and experience is preferred
SME-level experience supporting the operation of mission-critical networks within finance, healthcare, or other highly regulated areas (HIPPA, PCI, SOX, CIS, NIST, ISO/IEC, etc.)
SME-level experience participating in solution design and project delivery
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, OSI model, application flow analysis, IPv4 subnetting, IP routing, and switching protocols
In-depth experience with Cisco SDWAN technologies
In-depth experience with Dynamic Routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
In-depth experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center)
In-depth experience with designing and supporting highly available Wireless LANs
In-depth experience with Cisco Data Center Switch technologies such as Nexus, UCS Fabric Interconnect, VPC, OTV, etc...
In-depth experience with enterprise DNS, DHCP, and IP address management
Hands-on experience deploying virtual infrastructure within Microsoft Azure or AWS public clouds
Scripting experience in Perl, Python, or PowerShell a plus
Extensive experience operating within an ITIL ITSM organization with a background using ServiceNow
Extensive experience with diagramming software such as Microsoft Visio and Lucidchart
Experience using tools such as SolarWinds, Netbrain, LiveAction, ThousandEyes, AppDynamics, Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana
Excellent communication skills, directly interfacing IT leadership, business stakeholders and technical teams
