Principal - North San Diego County, CA
Summary:
We are seeking a full-time project professional to manage complex engineering projects and internal operations. Initially, this will be a remote position, reporting to Auburn and West Sacramento offices. Eventually, this person will open and lead an office in this area. This person will work under the CEO and senior firm leadership. This candidate should have 15+ years of experience performing and managing civil/geotechnical services and management on water, flood control, and transportation related projects. This position requires some travel to our Socal offices and projects, project management, cost negotiation, and client and public relations, and internal management of our engineering and geologist staff.

We provides geotechnical, geo-environmental, construction, and forensics engineering services throughout California with offices in Auburn, West Sacramento, and Fresno. We have an extensive geotechnical and materials testing lab in West Sacramento, CA. We focus mostly on public works including flood control and transportation. We have been in business since 1998 and are rapidly growing!
Technical Duties:
Manage budgets and schedules
Review and edit reports and calculations
Conduct impactful meetings
Know industry standards
Interpret plans and specifications
Have deep knowledge and experience of services offered by Blackburn
Leadership and Managerial Duties:
Assist with company leadership, strategic planning and goal setting
Continuously develop your leadership and managerial skills
Communicate with clients, team members, and contractors
Understand project scopes and Blackburn's services
Understand and review contracts
Win target work
Manage and review employees
Identify and resolve project issues, including changes to scope
Coordinate Blackburn staff according to project needs
Review and assign project tasks while following deadlines and budgets
Teach and develop younger professionals.
Essential Abilities:
Communicate regularly with staff, clients, partners and subs
Handle multiple projects
Deliver high-quality projects in a timely manner
Edit and write thorough, cohesive reports in the active voice
Work well with many personality types.
Self-starter
Technical Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (MS preferred)
5+ years of management (10+ years preferred)
Valid driver's license
Professional Engineer license (GE preferred)
Computer Savvy (Windows based systems)
