JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for electronic design, file creation and output operations necessary to produce printed materials, as requested by students, parents’ organizations and employees of the district. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. Job Task Descriptions Frequency Percentage of Time

1.

Responsible for all assigned design projects, activities, and schedules of design projects to facilitate the design, edit, revise, and prepress processes. Daily 30%

2.

Use desktop publishing software to produce professional print and electronic materials to be delivered district wide and throughout the community. Integrate typography, photography, graphics and color schemes into an effective design and layout. Outputs files to a variety of digital devices or file formats. Daily 10%

3.

Use creative skill to conceive and create original artwork and translate into professional print and electronic materials to be delivered district-wide and throughout the community. Daily 10%

4.

Use desktop color scanner. Scales, crops, manipulates photographs, creates masks, superimposes images and performs airbrush like functions. Draws vector-based illustrations from scans of customer supplied art or create original designs to meet customers’ need. Daily 10%

5.

Use O.C.R. software to scan text. Imports text from customer files using a variety of software tools. Daily 5%

6.

Operates various pieces of equipment including wide format printers, laminators, and cutters. Daily 5%

7.

Proofreads and inspects quality of all finished artwork. Daily 5%

8.

Provides backup for print production and bindery functions. Daily 5%

9.

Assists printing services support representative with telephone calls and customers. Daily 5%

10.

Determine appropriate paper stock, finish size, and format for each publication. Prepare and verify files for output, including checking color, fonts, photos and graphics for quality and correct format. Daily 5%

11.

Organizes and maintains electronic files. Daily 5%

13.

Perform other duties as assigned or requested. Daily 5%

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. It is essential that certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, and trainings are fulfilled, valid, and not expired.

Criminal background check and fingerprinting required

Associate Degree Graphic Arts or 2 years equivalent experience-focus on electronic design

One (1) year in related field, three (3) years using electronic design and page layout software & hardware

Basic math

Experience in graphic design and layout

Typesetting/typography

Basic computer maintenance/software installation

InDesign preferred/QuarkXpress considered

Illustrator/Acrobat/Photoshop (Create Suite)
