Job Summary:

The Academic and Behavior Support Staff is responsible for assisting students who need additional academic, emotional, or behavioral support. They work closely with teachers, special education staff, counselors, and administrators to implement individualized strategies that promote academic success, positive behavior, and social-emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one and small group academic support under the direction of classroom teachers and specialists.

Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and monitor student behavior throughout the school day.

Assist in collecting and recording data on academic progress and behavioral incidents.

Support classroom management strategies to promote a positive learning environment.

Participate in meetings related to student support plans (e.g., IEP, 504, RTI meetings).

Model and teach appropriate social skills and conflict resolution strategies.

Assist in the supervision of students during non-instructional times (e.g., lunch, recess, transitions).

Collaborate with staff to adapt instructional materials and activities for students with special needs.

Maintain confidentiality and ensure the dignity and rights of all students.

Attend professional development and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred).

Experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in an educational or behavioral support setting.

Knowledge of basic academic support techniques and behavior management strategies.

Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion at all times.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with students with special needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, emotional disturbances).

Training in crisis prevention/intervention techniques.

Familiarity with educational software and technology.
