Salary: $210,000 - $220,000

Job Summary

This critical role oversees a team of six that conducts all IT (Information Technology) services for the WEA (Washington Education Association). The successful incumbent will manage and supervise the daily work and project implementation of this team. The IT Manager will develop proactive strategies and policies with an inspiring vision alongside this staff. The IT Manager reports directly to the Director of IT & Communications.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

Recruit, train, and mentor IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Ensure the safety, stability, integrity, and efficient operation of in-house IT systems that support the WEA and its staff.

Supervise the IT support team to ensure timely resolution of technical issues.

Establish best practices for troubleshooting, user support, and system maintenance.

Cultivate a smoothly functioning, proactive, and efficiently running IT team.

Ensure IT systems and tools are accessible and inclusive for all staff, including those with disabilities.

Foster collaboration across departments and with external vendors.

Analyze complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.

Anticipate risks and implement preventative measures.

IT Security & Compliance Management

Oversee and direct the advanced administration, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of servers, networks, and IT systems security.

Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations (e.g., DOL (U.S. Department of Labor), GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), etc.).

Responsible for mitigating security risks and assessing investment opportunities that may require action plans.

Recommend and enforce policies that improve performance, scalability, and security of WEA systems and IT infrastructure.

Create policies, structures, and standards in support of WEAs management, security, and the confidential nature of the IT infrastructure.

System Improvement & Innovation

Develop and implement IT policies, strategies, and initiatives to support organizational objectives.

Collaborate with management to align IT solutions with organizational needs.

Continuous assessment of current systems to identify needed upgrades or system changes to maintain cutting edge IT systems.

Vendor & Technology Assessment

Oversee relationships with external IT service providers and consultants.

Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software.

Report project status to management team and vendors.

Disaster Recovery & Risk Management

Coordinate disaster recovery planning and testing exercises.

Financial Oversight

Develop and manage IT budgets, procurements, and vendor contracts.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Experience must demonstrate skill and understanding across the breadth of IT systems and tools.

Experience incorporating racial equity and social justice goals into IT methodologies.

Proven successful management and supervision of people and projects.

Experience developing long-term strategies that influence organizational goals.

Must have knowledge of the following: Windows, Microsoft 365, Linux, Networking Security, Azure Cloud Services, Salesforce CRM, and SQL.

Experience with IT security, release, configuration, and change management.

Must have technical acumen to analyze issues and determine root causes.

Capacity to adapt to newer technology releases resulting in state-of-the-art solutions.

Must support and help advance the WEA mission, goals, core values, and priorities.
