Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is located on the serene island of St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands and is a family-owned and managed beach resort nestled in a beautiful sandy bay along the Caribbean Sea. Position Summary:

The HVAC Technician will install, repair, and maintain the Resorts’ heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Must be certified or willing to obtain certification. Must be able to perform all general facility maintenance under minimum supervision ensuring quality and efficient production. Responsible for performing service requests and repairs as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be able to assess, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC units to ensure the Resort maintains properly functioning units.

Installs ductwork and thermostats to control HVAC system.

Complies with company and industry safety standards.

Complete all necessary work orders and inventory requirements.

Apply basic knowledge of repair and replacement of general fixtures, general repair includes doors, windows, walls, flooring, ceilings, roofs, furniture, and cabinetry.

Secondary Position Tasks:

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education Level:

High School Diploma or equivalent Certificate required.

Experience in Related Field:

Minimum of 1 year customer service or hotel experience desired.

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Competencies in plumbing, electric, and HVAC repairs with minimal assistance or supervision.

The ability to work well under pressure and demonstrate high-level problem-solving skills.

Ability to understand and adhere to safety, equipment, and maintenance procedures.

Working knowledge of appliances and equipment.

General working knowledge of in-room maintenance.

Ability to demonstrate good judgment and excellent communication skills when dealing with guests and staff members.

Excellent mechanical skills and the ability to use power and hand tools.

Work Schedule:

Ability to work Monday to Friday (8 hour shift)

Ability to work extended shifts as needed.

Equipment Used:

Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and other testing devices to read system schematics and evaluate HVAC systems.

Physical activity of this position:

Climbing - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

Balancing - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

Stooping - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full motion of the lower extremities and back muscles.

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Standing - Particularly for sustained periods of time.

Walking - Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Pushing - Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force to thrust forward, downward, or outward.

Pulling - Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires substantial use of upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make discriminations in sound.

Physical requirements of this position:

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual acuity requirements including color, dept perception and field vision:

The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate a golf cart/vehicle.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position:

The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
