Overview
Join our Cybersecurity Team supporting the National Military Command Center (NMCC). We’re seeking a mission-driven Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to lead and contribute to system security engineering, risk assessments, and security architecture across high-impact federal programs.
The ISSE will provide technical security assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations. This is a hands-on role working alongside engineering teams to integrate cybersecurity into complex IT systems.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a security engineering representative on system design and engineering teams
Design and implement secure architectures for new and existing network systems
Define security requirements based on NIST and DoD standards
Apply the Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-53, STIGs, and SCAP tools
Document security controls and gather artifacts for RMF and ICD 503 accreditation
Recommend and implement vulnerability mitigation strategies
Validate system security designs and support operational deployment
Maintain POAMs and resolve findings from security scans and assessments
Build, patch, and deploy HBSS (Windows) and ACAS (Linux) servers and applications
Conduct technical security assessments and manage Nessus, Security Center, and ePO
Provide Tier 3 support for cybersecurity tools like ACAS and HBSS/ESS
Lead or support security risk analysis, assessments, certifications, and planning
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
Security+ certification
10+ years of hands-on experience with FISMA and NIST frameworks
Deep understanding of systems engineering, network architecture, and cyber risk
Ability to identify risks across operating systems, protocols, and hardware
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent planning, time management, and independent problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using eMASS and/or Xacta
Ability to run SCAP scans on Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers
Knowledge of licensing for HBSS ePO and Tenable Security Center
Deep understanding of information security principles and risk assessment methodologies
Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity compliance and RMF toolsetsCompany Description
