Job Description
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
Maintain the equipment and facilities of a polyester resin manufacturing plant. This is done through a priority work order system and preventative maintenance program. Work is performed in a manner that conforms to all “best practice” rules, codes and regulations and the objectives of the Maintenance Manager.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree preferred.
Must be able to accept and follow oral and written directions from manager.
3-5 years of experience in maintenance.
3-5 years of experience and knowledge in the following areas:
Preventive maintenance of process equipment (i.e. boiler, air compressors, cooling tower, etc).
Repair and adjustments for standard drive equipment, such as motors and pumps.
Demonstrable understanding of instrumentation/controls.
Must be able to identify and troubleshoot problems in at least 3 of the following areas:
Welding, Plumbing, Electricity, Pipefitting, Carpentry, Machinery/Equipment Maintenance
Must be able to read blueprints, understand mechanical manuals and/or electrical schematics.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hard hat, gloves, and respirator.
Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Use computer and software for job work orders in the EAM. Also use Microsoft, Excel, and Word computer programs.
Able to drive a forklift and must have forklift certification
Must be able to walk, stand, and climb to access and repair equipment.
Able to be trained for confined space entry.
Able to read and interpret drawings, SOPs, WIs, and Standards.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair existing plant equipment (including pumps, valves, piping, etc.).
Ensure that equipment is in working order and operates satisfactorily.
Work closely with the production department and other departments to perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
Promote total quality and safety.
Order parts from approved vendor under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
Work effectively as a crewmember of a team and maintain good working relations with others.
This job entails a lot of walking, standing, lifting, confined space entry, and climbing.
Punctuality and regularity of attendance are job requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Must report to work on time daily.
Must understand and follow all company policies.
Follow the ISO9000 standards.
Capability to multi-task in a fast paced-cross functional environment.
The candidate should be well organized and self-motivated.
Communicates well within the department and with management.
Keep common areas, work areas, and storage locations in a clean and orderly fashion to comply with regulatory bodies, such OSHA, Fire Dept., AQMD, etc.
