The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) seeks to increase the number of applicants for clinical nursing positions by offering a recruitment incentive to eligible Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant candidates in accordance with the DHSS Recruitment and Referral Incentive Program.
The program provides incentives as follows:
Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive.
Referral bonuses of $1,000 are available to current DHSS employees who refer new hires to the state in the following classifications: Advanced Practice Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Nursing Supervisor, Compliance Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, and Certified Nursing Assistant. Referral bonuses of $1,000 will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire of the referred applicant.
NOTE: This program is administered by the Department of Health and Social Services. The program may be terminated by the State at any time.
Summary Statement
The LPN, a Licensed Practical Nurse is sometime referred to as a vocational nurse. LPNs are health care providers who are tasked with providing direct care to their patients. They are responsible in providing to the daily basic needs of patients including administering medication and treatments and maintain close communication with their supervisors, the RNs. If patients have minor wounds, LPNs perform wound cleaning and dressing changes. LPNs are required to check patient’s hydration and food intake. They assist patients with hygiene and ADL’s.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nurse license, Delaware temporary license or multi-state compact license.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
At least six months experience as a Practical Nurse.
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Licensed Practical Nurse III
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Possession of a Delaware Practical Nursing license or multi-state compact license.
At least eighteen months experience as a Practical Nurse.
