POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Maintenance Supervisor will provide the guidance, direction and materials to Industrial Millwrights to ensure operational repairs and preventative maintenance services. You will be responsible for all mill machinery and duties including:
1. Responsible for daily production up time and crew safety;
2. Prioritize and schedule daily work for maintenance staff;
3. Administer disciplinary action as required;
4. Implement departmental and corporate policies and ensure compliance;5. Assesses and Identifies training needs of maintenance staff;
6. Review the log book entries for previous shifts, assess and plan corrective measures;
7. Ordering of parts and materials as required for specific jobs;
8. Prioritize weekend preventative maintenance and weekend job list;
9. Oversee maintenance work and procedures to ensure work is completed correctly and safely;
10. Complete annual and periodic safe work procedure and equipment maintenance training with tradespersons;
11. Present Safety, Mechanical and Up Time crew talk;
12. Write maintenance memos, safe work procedures and maintenance work procedures;
13. Check to ensure correct parts delivered to the mill.
Documentation/Administration/Management
1. Record feedback to senior management on daily reports on outlining the achievement of goals and objectives and problems to be addressed.
2. Attend production and planning meetings as required.
3. Maintain good communication with colleagues and senior management.
4. Ensure employee performance levels meet company expectations and standards-document training, coaching, and discipline as required.
5. Perform a yard and mill tours and act on the deficiencies uncovered.
Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Trades qualification;
• Sawmill Maintenance experience;
• Ability to read blueprints, plans and schematics;
• Strong problem solving skills;
• Commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills;
• Ability to work independently with little supervision;
• Previous experience in a Saw Mill or heavy industry preferred;
• Swing shift work is required; and,
• Organizational and planning skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
