Job Description:
About the Role:
As a Senior Food Scientist, you will play a key role in supporting the Research & Development team at our Omaha, NE, R&D Center. This position will support our Baked Goods, Dough Mixing, Refrigerated Doughs, Frozen Doughs and Cookie division. This role leads the design, planning, validation, and implementation of new products, line extensions, product improvements, and technical services for TreeHouse Foods—ensuring alignment with product offering requirements.
You’ll add value to this role by performing various functions including, but not limited to:
Lead product development, documentation management, project management, and commercialization initiatives independently.
Formulate and execute development projects from bench to production scale for new products, product improvements, and cost-saving initiatives.
Create new prototypes and evaluate potential ingredients and manufacturing suppliers for approval.
Identify opportunities to gain a competitive market advantage.
Apply sound scientific methods throughout development stages, including trial planning, data analysis, and problem-solving to achieve project goals.
Provide sound technical judgment and experience to ensure appropriate scientific discipline is applied in business decisions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, QA, Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Engineering to provide technical expertise and influence project direction.
Understand product requirements and manufacturing processes to develop detailed playbooks and specifications.
Ensure successful technology transfer to operations teams during commercialization, including oversight of internal and external manufacturing start-ups and ongoing technical support.
Contribute significantly through the application of advanced technical knowledge to drive project results.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve the commercialization process using experience and technical expertise.
Important Details:
This is a full-time, on-site role on First Shift.
You’ll fit right in if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field is required.
Minimum of six years of laboratory experience in a food manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience with Baked Goods, Dough Mixing, Refrigerated Doughs, Frozen Doughs and Cookies is required.
Strong understanding of ingredient interactions and functionality.
Ability to communicate effectively and openly while working with a cross-functional team.
Must be a self-starter, independent, energetic and resourceful.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
Solid project management skills with demonstrated experience in leading and executing projects.
Experience using Microsoft Office.
