Office of Employee & Business Services

This position is located in the Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS). OEBS manages the agency’s administrative services, including human resources, facility operations and organizational development. OEBS and its component bureaus support the primary goal of ODJFS by providing continuous, accurate and timely administrative services to the program areas within the department. OEBS's customers include all ODJFS employees, clients, service providers, county agencies, and the public.

What You’ll Do

Coordinate Employment Authorizations:

Initiate online and Department of Public Safety (DPS) criminal background checks.

Conduct employment verifications and reference checks.

Perform and schedule candidate FBI fingerprinting.

Coordinate candidate drug screening appointments.

Complete Form I-9 (Federal Authorization of Employment Form) and verify the authenticity of candidate identification.

Create employment authorization cases in the federal eVerify system.

Perform Internal Audits and Maintain Records:

Complete regularly scheduled employment authorization audits, including Form I-9 reviews, employment authorization/identification expiration checks, and eVerify case reviews.

Generate Business Intelligence (BI) reports to ensure 100% compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, and policies.

Prepare and upload personnel and job bid documents to the electronic recordkeeping/personnel file system.

Customer Relations:

Respond to inquiries from employees and the general public by monitoring assigned HR Support/Workforce Administration (WFA) electronic mailboxes, ensuring timely response and dissemination of messages and information to staff.

Advertise Position Vacancies and Screen Candidate Applications:

Coordinate and review Realistic Job Previews for accuracy.

Create job postings using the Ohio Hiring Management System (OHMS) and submit for proper pre-posting approvals.

Screen candidate application submissions to ensure qualifications are met.

Collaborate with supervisor/WFA partners to determine additional screening criteria.

Compile lists of eligible applicants and send to agency Hiring Managers for consideration.

Perform Other Related Duties as Assigned:

Participate in staff meetings.

Utilize personal computer software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OHMS, OAKS Peoplesoft) to produce correspondence, reports, and other documents.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Flexible start time may be permitted).

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:

OPTION 1:

4 courses or 12 mos. exp. in human resources.

OR OPTION 2:

Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information

This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 8. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $22.40 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
