Job Description

We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our team during the overnight shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM). In this part-time role, you will be responsible for administering medications to our residents and providing care during the night, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This is an essential role in supporting our residents and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment during overnight hours.

Responsibilities

Medication Administration:

Administer prescribed medications and treatments to residents as per physician orders and facility policies.

Assist residents with self-administration of medications when necessary.

Document medication administration accurately in the resident's medical records.

Report any medication errors or discrepancies to the Director of Nursing immediately.

Resident Monitoring & Care:

Monitor residents throughout the night for any health changes or reactions to medications.

Assist residents with personal care needs as requested (e.g., positioning, toileting, comfort).

Provide basic health assessments and communicate any significant changes in residents' conditions to the nursing staff.

Respond to emergency situations or resident needs promptly and efficiently.

Resident and Family Communication:

Communicate any medication changes, concerns, or issues to residents, their families, or next of kin as appropriate.

Ensure residents are comfortable and reassure them as needed during the overnight hours.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication administration records (MAR) for all residents.

Document any incidents, changes in resident status, and other relevant observations during the overnight shift.

Compliance and Safety:

Follow all state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures regarding medication administration and safety protocols.

Ensure infection control practices are followed and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Participate in training and continuing education on medication administration and other safety protocols.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with other overnight team members to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.

Communicate effectively with the day shift team to ensure smooth transitions of care.Qualifications:

Current certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in New Jersey.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in an assisted living or healthcare setting is preferred.

Strong knowledge of medication administration, side effects, and regulations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision during overnight hours.

Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs of elderly residents.

Ability to handle emergency situations and make quick, sound decisions.Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift up to [weight].

Ability to perform tasks that involve physical movement, including assisting residents with mobility or personal care needs.

Must be able to stay alert and attentive during overnight hours.Working Conditions:

Part-time position, overnight shift from 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM.

May require weekends, holidays, and flexibility in scheduling.
