Purpose of the Position:
The OSP Material Manager will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the shipment, delivery, and asset tracking of construction materials for FFTx projects across multiple locations throughout Arizona from a local warehouse. This position will also include on-site management of construction activities to assist construction managers and provide additional vendor oversight to ensure regulatory compliance and quality assurance. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and extensive experience in outside plant (OSP) construction to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Warehouse Oversight: Oversee the storage, control, and distribution of materials from the local warehouse to authorized contractors for various FFTx projects.
Asset Management: Order, track, and scan materials for multiple FTTx construction projects from initiation through completion. Receive material shipments, manage order reports, and maintain an accurate inventory to ensure seamless project execution.
Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or obstacles that arise during construction and material ordering process. Implement solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
Client and Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. Provide regular updates on material status and address any concerns or inquiries promptly.
Team Support: Assist in supervision and coordination of the activities for construction teams, subcontractors, and vendors. Provide direction, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and adherence to safety and quality standard.
Quality Assurance: Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications, industry standards, and company policies. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and address any issues promptly.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all construction activities adhere to local, state, and federal regulations. Obtain necessary permits and approvals, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Required
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCM) are a plus but not required.
Experience: Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in OSP construction or material management, with a strong background in FTTX projects. Proven track record of managing large-scale projects.
Skills: Strong project management and organizational skills / Excellent leadership and team management abilities / Proficient in project management software and tools / Knowledge of OSP Construction practices, including fiber optics splicing and testing, trenching, and conduit installation / Familiarity with relevant regulations and safety standards / Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills / Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Travel: Willingness to travel frequently as needed to project sites. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
Physical Requirement: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Machinery: Ability and/or willingness to operate a forklift.

All high-risk activities including but not limited to crane lifts.
