JOB SUMMARY

Teichman Group, LLC, an industry leader in marine services and emergency response, develops and builds much of our own equipment. As a welder/fabricator in our metal fabrication shop you will be responsible for designing, cutting and shaping aluminum, carbon and stainless steel.

Fabrication of shipping containers, firefighting pumps, dredges, vessels, heavy lift cranes and barges are just a few examples of the projects the skilled welder/fabricator will be involved with.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience. Welding Certification or vocational degree required.

Clean driving record and valid driver’s license required as a continuing condition of employment.

Must be able to meet all physical qualifications per company guidelines.

Must have Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or obtain one.

Must be able to speak, read and write in the English Language.

Must have basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.

Knowledge and experience with Mig, Tig, flux-core and stick welding.

Ability to read blueprints and recognize welding symbols and specifications.

Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment including heavy machinery and forklift.

Will be required to complete confined space entry (CSE) and 40 Hour OSHA Training.

Knowledge of industry safety practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, measuring tapes.

Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.

Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.

Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools.

Operate welding equipment, grinding and cutting equipment.

Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.

Construct patterns, templates, or other work aids.

Hammer, chip, and grind workpieces to cut, bend, and straighten metal.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.

SHIFT INFORMATION

The standard work schedule for a Welder is Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:45 pm with a 45-minute lunch break. May be required to work extended (> 8 hour) time periods and/or travel occasionally.

This position works in a non-climate-controlled shop setting, with outdoor exposure during the workday. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to noisy.
