Job Overview:

Corvian Community School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and innovative Band/Chorus Teacher to inspire students through music education. The ideal candidate will foster a love of music while developing students' technical skills in band and choral performance. This position requires collaboration with faculty, involvement in school events, and a commitment to upholding the values and mission of the school.

Job Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

Design and deliver engaging music instruction for both band (high school level) and chorus students (grades 6-8).

Teach fundamental music theory, vocal techniques, and instrumental skills.

Select and prepare age-appropriate repertoire for performances.

Develop individualized and group lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities.

Utilize technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance student learning.

Performance and Events:

Plan, organize, and lead student performances, including concerts, recitals, and participation in local, state, and national events or competitions.

Coordinate logistics for performances, such as securing venues and managing equipment.

Collaborate with school leadership to promote music programs in the community.

Administrative Duties:

Maintain an inventory of instruments, sheet music, and other program materials.

Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.

Ensure compliance with school policies and state music education standards.

Collaborative and Community Engagement:

Partner with other educators to integrate music education across disciplines.

Mentor students in leadership roles within the band and chorus programs.

Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.

Experience teaching band and chorus at the K-12 level or equivalent.

Proficiency in at least one musical instrument and conducting techniques.

Preferred:

Master’s degree in Music Education or a related field.

Valid teaching certification in North Carolina.

Previous experience in a charter school environment.

Demonstrated success in leading ensembles to performance excellence.
