Senior PostgreSQL Migration & Development Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior PostgreSQL Migration & Development Engineer will play a pivotal role in the successful migration of our existing databases to PostgreSQL, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. This position requires a deep understanding of database architecture and the ability to design and implement efficient migration strategies. The engineer will also be responsible for developing new database solutions that enhance our business services and improve data accessibility. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to align database functionalities with business needs and to provide ongoing support post-migration. Ultimately, this role aims to optimize our database performance and reliability, contributing to the overall efficiency of our business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end migration from legacy SQL systems to PostgreSQL

Design and implement scalable, high-performance database solutions on Oracle Cloud

Collaborate with software development teams to integrate PostgreSQL databases with existing applications.

Optimize data architecture to ensure clean, reliable migration and minimal disruption

Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues post-migration.

Success Criteria:

Complete migration ahead of schedule

Deliver stable, production-ready PostgreSQL environments

Ensure zero major issues post-deployment

Required Skills & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

7+ years of experience in database engineering, including recent PostgreSQL work

Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, schema design, and performance tuning

Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Familiarity with Oracle DB and legacy SQL environments

Proven leadership in large-scale data migration projects

Solid experience in scripting, automation, and troubleshooting complex database issues

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in a relevant field.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

Experience with other database systems such as MySQL or Oracle.

Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and services.

Strong communication and documentation skills
