Overview:

The Production Lead will work within the Manufacturing Departments alongside Production Operations to ensure the highest level of quality for Thompson Pipe Group – Precast products. The position will collaborate with the department supervisor to ensure knowledge of, and compliance with, project-specific requirements.

Essential Functions:

Hold Daily Huddle Meetings, understand key metrics and be able to convey progress to performance expectations to the team.

Lead Continuous Improvement Projects addressing safety, quality, and production opportunities.

Give direction to all direct reports and provide daily instruction to each team member.

Train and engage New Hires and coach them continuously to make sure they are successfully on boarded and continuously develop their skill set.

Engage team in creative problem-solving activity and implementing daily improvements.

Ensure production plan is followed and all necessary preparation is done before shift kick-off to optimize efficiencies.

Identify needed Maintenance items and perform daily preoperational and post operational inspections and report any potential issues to be fixed prior to next shift.

Create an inclusive culture that allows for development and the sharing of ideas.

Identify and report Safety Observations/Near Misses, striving for a zero-incident workplace.

Report Downtime and Waste to Supervisor using Downtime Codes.

Report Daily Production, including any details that will allow us to better understand production Opportunities.

Work with other leads from other departments when needed to maximize workforce utilization and share best practices.

Staff crews with the appropriate type and quantity of personnel for safe and efficient methods

Coordinate and assure proper material deliveries

Plan work schedules of crews to assure conformance to estimated labor projections and project deadlines

Perform checks on setups and finished products for accuracy and conformance to plans and specifications.

Monitor personnel for adherence to company policies and productivity.

Read blueprints and specifications and be technically proficient.

Produce a quality product (including quality evaluations) that meets the customers’ expectations while ensuring that drawings and job specifications are followed.

Maintain order and housekeeping.

Requirements:

Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing

TPG will train and support in the development of leadsperson

High School diploma or GED

2 years of Leading experience leading a team in the manufacturing or production support process.

Work-related experience and/or training in skilled trades: Preferred

Familiarity using tools and equipment associated with precast concrete production: Preferred

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 75 pounds.
