The Lab Technician performs laboratory tests to determine chemical composition for quality control purposes.
Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory instruments such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon determinators, spark-AES analyzers, XRF analyzers, and associated sample preparation equipment according to laboratory procedures.
Performs chemical analysis on raw materials, in-process melting samples, and finished titanium product in order to verify conformity to internal, customer, and third-party specifications.
Tests titanium materials for elements such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon, and metallic analytes typically found in titanium alloy matrices.
Records test results utilizing Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Performs calibration of laboratory instrumentation as required.
Performs preventative maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and associated equipment in order to assure proper functioning.
Troubleshoots faulty equipment in order to restore performance.
Performs general housekeeping duties in order to keep the laboratory and the sample preparation area free from contamination that could have an adverse effect on analytical results.

Requirements:
High school diploma.
Associates/bachelor’s degree, or related work experience preferred.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Candidate must also be capable of performing unit conversion and solving general algebraic equations.
Ability to read and interpret data, recognize trending, and perform proper corrective action(s) when testing issues arise.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and specifications and/or drawings.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and have good multi-tasking skills.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
Must be willing to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule.
