The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seeks a Clinician Scientist to join the Department of Dermatology. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

Serves as a member of the Department of Dermatology; provides training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in specialty area; embarks on a program of research and obtains external funding; ensures continuing education requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.

Department/Division Overview

The Department of Dermatology offers comprehensive dermatologic care serving Ohio and beyond. By joining our faculty, you will have excellent opportunities for advancement, while working with an exceptional and growing group of dermatologists. Faculty members provide outpatient dermatologic care with the option to participate in inpatient consults if desired. OSU dermatology allows physicians to pursue their passions in dermatology, including general, medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. You will have the flexibility to focus on general dermatology or explore interests in specialty and multi-disciplinary clinics. There are plenty of opportunities and support to pursue roles in leadership, education, and research for those that are interested.

Duties and Responsibilities

Embarks on a program of research; prepares grant applications and obtains external funding for research projects and to cover salary; prepares abstracts and manuscripts for publication;

Participates in the academic commitments of the division and department; provides training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students

Ensures continuing educational requirements are met; participates in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities. Requirements

MD or DO with or without other advanced degree (MS, PhD, etc.)

Completion of an accredited residency program in dermatology required

Board eligible/Board certification in Dermatology

Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio How to Apply

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
