The person in this position provides direct services including assessment and counseling; provides referrals and education to OSU staff, faculty and their dependents; interacts with departments and colleges requesting assistance or recommendations regarding various problems and issues; serves on panels and committees to improve The Ohio State University's workplace environment. responds to requests for services to individuals or groups presenting with personal or work related issues; uses brief solution-focused assessment and counseling to assist clients; responsibilities include assessment, triage, referral, crisis intervention, consultation, mediation, training and group education; operates as part of integrated health care team that is component of benefit package for University employees and their dependents; manages data collection/report generation; position based on main campus and includes travel to regional campuses. Works with programs such as: Crisis Assessment Team, College of Social Work, Fitness for Duty, Employee Health, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

75% Clinical Care

• Primarily responsible for providing direct clinical care for The Ohio State University and Wexner Medical Center’s qualified faculty and staff, as well as their dependents.

• Maintain case load of clients and all clinical documentation and records in accordance with HIPPA and department practices.

• Participates in bi-weekly consultation with direct supervisor.

• Applies short term techniques such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) for assisting members to move through the stages of behavioral change and reduce difficulties.

• Utilizes expanded clinical, conceptual, and practical knowledge to support clients experiencing mental health difficulties.

• Facilitate and advise clients in identifying opportunities for improvement and refers to resources to optimize their efforts.

• Effectively and efficiently documents treatment plans and outcomes.

20% Education and Training:

Presents programs related to substance use, mental health, and workplace issues

• Deliver existing content virtually or in person to requesting employee groups.

• Responds to requests for services for individuals or groups presenting with personal or work-related issues;

• Assists with the development and production of training content with guidance from senior team members.

• Demonstrates effective solution-finding, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills

• Promotes teamwork

• Exhibits dependability in meeting desired program outcomes and target dates for reports

• Manage scheduling, data input and follow-up processes for all workshops provided.

• Participates in facilitation of Critical Incident Response sessions

• Counsel’s employees in identifying opportunities for improvement and refers to resources to optimize their efforts

5% Duties as Assigned

• Performs self-audits and quality monitoring to improve performance

• Plans and participates in programming events to market OSU Health Plan programs

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

Master's Degree or equivalent education/experience; Current Independent Ohio counseling licensure or Equivalent LISW, LPCC, MFT (Marital and Family Therapist); Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite; EAP counseling and general composition

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem solving, presentation skills and program planning skills; strong technology skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization; ability to work independently on assigned projects; ability to analyze and interpret data and organize data into actionable process improvements required. Experience with health plan policies and medical terminology required.

Ongoing: Maintains knowledge of The Ohio State University Health Plan's policies and procedures and functions within those guidelines; maintains positive member and colleague relations; maintains working knowledge of technology tools.
