Operations Manager / Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Various locations across Canada
Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 CAD (depending on experience)
Skyline Recruitment is working with a fast-growing, multidisciplinary consulting firm that is currently seeking an Operations Manager / Senior Geotechnical Engineer to help lead and grow its Geotechnical Services division.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
Supervise and mentor a team of junior to senior staff across geotechnical projects
Oversee safety, technical quality, and efficiency of team deliverables
Provide strategic leadership to support technical growth and team development
Review technical reports and ensure alignment with company standards
Coordinate staffing, scheduling, equipment usage, and vacation planning
Financial & Operational Oversight
Prepare and monitor group budgets, utilization targets, and profitability metrics
Oversee contract document preparation and ensure alignment with internal standards
Track monthly performance and lead forecasting activities
Project Coordination
Develop work schedules, allocate resources, and assign team responsibilities
Act as a liaison between internal departments, clients, and regulatory bodies
Maintain and grow strong relationships with contractors and industry partners
Business Development
Engage in ongoing business development and client relationship management
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and professional associations
Identify opportunities for growth and strategic partnerships
Quality Control & Technical Excellence
Ensure consistent quality of deliverables across all project stages
Provide expert technical input on geotechnical assessments and investigations
Support staff development through mentoring and technical training
Offer regulatory guidance and ensure compliance with industry standards
Qualifications
University degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering (or related discipline)
10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with demonstrated leadership and operations management
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligibility to register
Experience managing or working with a CCIL-certified lab (asset)
Strong understanding of geotechnical services as they relate to other disciplines such as Environmental and Building Sciences
Proven technical writing and report preparation skills
Business acumen with experience in budgeting, invoicing, and client engagement
Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership capabilities
