Reports To: Principal

Compensation: $64,000 - $68,000

Status: Exempt

Calendar: 11-Month

The Role

The Assistant Principal Fellowship is a leadership development role designed for passionate educators who are ready to take the next step in their educational career. This fellowship will allow an experienced teacher (with 2-5 years of classroom experience) the opportunity to work closely with the school leadership team to gain hands-on experience in school administration and leadership. Upon successful completion of the fellowship, the Fellow will be considered for a permanent Assistant Principal position.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Work directly with the Principal and leadership team to gain experience in instructional leadership, school operations, and teacher support.

Support teachers in the development and implementation of effective teaching practices, providing feedback and modeling best practices.

Support the implementation of scholar behavior systems and recognition programs.

Assist in collecting, analyzing, and responding to scholar data from assessments such as MAP, STAAR, and TELPAS.

Assist in the development and implementation of student behavior and culture strategies that foster a positive and rigorous learning environment.

Assist with aspects of daily school life, including arrival, dismissal, hallway transitions, lunch, and school-wide events.

Help plan and facilitate family engagement events such as Family Orientation, REACH celebrations, and Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Participate in structured leadership development through 1:1 coaching, leadership seminars, and hands-on experiences.

Set leadership goals and reflect regularly on growth areas with feedback from school leaders.

Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement, integrity, and professionalism.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required

Demonstrated high academic results as a teacher and/or leader

Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth, with a proactive approach to developing leadership skills

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships and convey expectations, ideas, and feedback to scholars, staff, and families

"Whatever it takes" mindset, with a strong focus on achieving results and overcoming challenges to ensure scholar success

Consistently models professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior in all interactions

Demonstrates strong organizational skills and a self-starter mindset, with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects in a fast-paced school environment

High capacity for problem-solving, with the ability to think critically and adapt to dynamic, ever-changing situations

Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
