Position Overview:

The Honors College at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (non-tenurable) to teach in its First-Year Writing Program. The successful candidate will primarily teach three sections of Honors Research Writing per semester, with the possibility of other courses in their area of expertise, depending upon the needs of the college. With an anticipated start date of August 16, 2025, this 9-month appointment has full benefits and the expectation of renewal contingent upon Dean’s approval, satisfactory performance, college needs and the availability of funding.

Required Qualifications:

Terminal degree in any field (Ph.D. or M.F.A.).

Strong record of undergraduate teaching, with an emphasis on research writing.

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching Honors students

Intellectual flexibility to successfully guide a wide range of research projects in varying disciplines.

Familiarity and interest in STEM-adjacent topics.
